Professor Mike Levin

Professor Mike Levin is head of the Division of Asthma and Allergy in the Department of Paediatrics, University of Cape Town.  He serves on the executive committee of the Allergy Society of South Africa and is the CEO of the Allergy Foundation of South Africa (www.allergyfoundation.co.za) where you can find huge amount of information for doctors and patients.

He teaches medical students, medical professionals and specialists in allergy and presents at national and international allergy congresses.  He has published 141 peer reviewed scientific articles, 5 chapters in medical books and edited a textbook of paediatrics and the ALLSA handbook of allergy.

Prof Levin has a special interest in epidemiology of allergy in Africa, severe allergies and anaphylaxis, as well as patient support and education.  Current research includes rural and urban differences in prevalence of food allergy and mechanisms of meat-induced anaphylaxis.

Professor Philippe Eigenmann

Philippe Eigenmann is a pediatrician and allergist trained in Switzerland and in the USA (Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore). He is currently head of Pediatric Allergy at the University Hospitals of Geneva Switzerland. His main focus of research is food allergy with several ongoing studies focusing on early-life events of allergy, as well as on food allergy diagnosis. He has published over 200 articles in international scientific journals. Since January 2018, he is editor-in-Chief of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, the world leading journal in the field, and in the Editorial Board of Allergy. In addition to his scientific activity, he has been the chair of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) section on Pediatrics from and president of the Swiss Society for Allergy and Immunology. He is also secretary of the EAACI-Clemens von Pirquet Foundation, a European foundation promoting research and education in pediatric allergy and immunology.

Professor Peter Schmid-Grendelmeier

Peter Schmid-Grendelmeier is Professor for Allergy and Dermatology and acts as the head of the Allergy Unit of the Department of Dermatology of the University Hospital of Zürich since 2003.

His research focus is on allergic skin diseases, namely atopic dermatitis, mast cell-related diseases, and molecular allergy diagnosis, leading several Phase III, III and investigator-initiated studies in this rea, combining solid clinical work with state of the art experimental research.

He has published more than 2805 original articles (h-index 78, 30624 citations) and is a member of the Editorial board and/or reviewer for several well-established scientific journals. He is also responsible for the training and residency programs and exams in Dermatology and Allergology at his University.

Among other board memberships such as former president of the Swiss Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunolgy SSAI and vicepresident of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology EAACI he currently acts as treasurer of the International Society for Atopic Dermatitis ISAD (www.isad.org) and is member of the Scentific Committee Directorium of Christine Kühne Center for Allergy Research and Education (www.ck-care.ch). Within CK-CARE he co-leads the ProRAD study, a large prospective longitudinal study to investigate the remission phase in patientswith atopic dermatitis (AD) and other allergy-associated diseases such as asthma, food allergies and allergic rhinitis (hay fever), investigating a cohort of more than 1400 patients.

In addition, he always had a strong interest in tropical allergic skin diseases and skin of color, having worked for several years in Peru (1989) and Tanzania (1997/98). He is co-leading a multinational research team comparing immunologic signatures comparing cohorts of Atopic dermatitis patients in Tanzania (Moshi) and Switzerland; in Moshi, he is also member and newly appointed research head of the Scientific Board of the Regional Dermatology Training center (RDTC). He is lecturing and collaborating on tropical skin disease, skin of color at various organizations such as the Swiss Tropical Institute of Basel, major meetings and in the tropics. He also serves an external consultant of the WHO for Non-communicable skin disease in the tropics. He is a strong promoter of teledermatology in various countries worldwide, serving also as an expert in a teledermatology service for the “Medecins sans frontiers”.

Besides his mother tongue German he speaks English, French, Spanish , Italian and Kisuaheli . He is married and father of 2 adult children and likes photgraphy and outdoor sports.

Dr. Olatunde Odusote

Dr. Olatunde Odusote is a Consultant Pediatrician, Allergologist and Dermatologist. He is the founder and Clinical team lead of Allergy and Asthma Clinics, Lagos, Nigeria. He was formerly the Head Unit of Allergy, Dermatology and Pulmonary Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos. Olatunde is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pediatrics, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and holds a Diploma of the College of Family Medicine in Allergology He is also a Fellow of the College of Pediatrics in Allergology, Colleges of Medicine of South Africa.

Olatunde is the Chairperson, Allergy and Clinical Immunology Society (Nigeria) and a member of other various professional and academic societies including the Allergy Society of South Africa, the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

He is passionate about advancing optimal and affordable allergy care in sub-Sahara Africa and has published in reputable national and international journals.

Dr. Tshegofatso Mabelane

Dr. Tshegofatso Mabelane is the first HPCSA certified Family Physician Allergist in South Africa. She obtained her subspecialist qualification in Allergology through the University of Cape Town and College of Medicine South Africa. She also did the allergy exam with the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology under the European Union of Medical Specialists.

Dr. Mabelane serves as an executive committee member of the Allergy Society of South Africa and is Chairperson of the Diploma in Allergy for the College of Medicine South Africa.

Her organisation conducts research as clinical trials in different fields of medicine but especially asthma, allergy, and other immune diseases.

Dr. Amalachukwu Okore

Dr. Okore is a skilled pediatrician with more than 18 years of experience. She is a detail-oriented professional, who ensures all safety measures are adhered to, to meet the highest and most current standards of quality in the field.

Dr. Okore obtained her bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (MBBS) from the University of Nigeria in 2004. She obtained her Fellowship from the faculty of Paediatrics, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2016. She also holds a Diploma in allergy and asthma from the Christian Medical College, Vellore, India.

Dr Okore is determined to provide outstanding service and care to children, listening to parent’s concerns and treating for overall well-being.

Dr. Yemi Osinaike

Dr. Yemi Osinaike is a fellow of the West African College of Physicians (faculty of Paediatrics) with focus on paediatric dermatology. His interest is on dermatologic manifestations of infectious disorders, newborn skin disorders and the interplay of allergy and dermatological manifestations.

He is currently the head of the Accident and Emergency, Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi-araba, a role he combines with running the Paediatric dermatology unit of the hospital.
